Director of Avionics & Electrical Engineering
Location: Duluth, Minnesota (Relocation Provided)
Salary: $170,000-$250,000/year
Our client, Cirrus Aircraft, a leading innovator in general aviation, is seeking an experienced Director of Avionics & Electrical Engineering to lead a team of 70+ engineers across avionics, software, electrical systems, and Electrical Wiring Interconnect Systems (EWIS). Your Role:
Reporting to the Vice President of Engineering, you will provide strategic vision, technical oversight, and leadership across avionics, software, and electrical disciplines. You will guide certification efforts, develop engineering standards, and foster collaboration across teams to ensure the safe, compliant, and innovative design of aircraft systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 70+ engineers in avionics, electrical systems, software, and EWIS.
Oversee design, development, integration, and installation of aircraft systems in compliance with FAA Part 23 regulations.
Drive organizational strategy and implement engineering best practices.
Ensure technical excellence, innovation, and regulatory compliance across all projects.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve product and certification goals.
Serve as a key technical advisor to senior leadership on avionics and electrical systems matters.
What You Bring:
Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering (required).
12+ years of relevant aviation industry experience.
8+ years of engineering leadership experience.
Deep expertise in avionics, electrical system design, EWIS, and FAA certification processes.
Strong leadership, strategic planning, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Relocation:
Relocation to Duluth, Minnesota is required, and a comprehensive relocation package is provided.
