A reputable engineering consultancy in Chicago is seeking a Structural Engineer to join their team. The role involves designing, analyzing, and overseeing structural projects for commercial, residential, and infrastructure developments across the Chicago metropolitan area.
Responsibilities of the role
Perform structural analysis and design for buildings, bridges, and other infrastructure projects using industry-standard software.
Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and reports compliant with local building codes and regulations.
Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other engineering disciplines to ensure project objectives are met on time and within budget.
Conduct site visits and inspections to monitor construction progress and verify compliance with design specifications.
Review and approve subcontractor submissions and shop drawings.
Support project management activities including scheduling, budgeting, and client communication.
Stay current with industry developments and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
About you
Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering required; Master’s preferred.
Professional Engineer (PE) license in Illinois or working towards licensure is highly desirable.
Proficient in structural design software such as SAP2000, ETABS, and AutoCAD.
Strong understanding of Chicago building codes and relevant regulations.
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Experience managing multiple projects and working collaboratively in a team environment.
Prior experience with commercial and infrastructure projects is a plus.
