Job Description

A prominent urban planning firm in Houston, TX, is seeking a skilled Town Planner to contribute to the development and enhancement of community infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in land use planning, zoning regulations, and community engagement, playing a pivotal role in shaping sustainable urban environments.



Responsibilities


- Urban Planning & Design: Develop and implement comprehensive land use plans that align with community needs and regulatory frameworks.

- Zoning & Land Use Analysis: Conduct thorough analyses of zoning codes and land use policies to ensure compliance and recommend necessary adjustments.

- Community Engagement: Facilitate public meetings and workshops to gather community input and foster collaborative planning processes.

- Environmental Considerations: Integrate sustainable practices into planning processes, addressing environmental impacts and promoting green spaces.

- Collaboration: Work closely with architects, engineers, and local government officials to ensure cohesive development strategies.

- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all planning activities adhere to local, state, and federal regulations.

- Reporting & Documentation: Prepare detailed reports, maps, and presentations to communicate planning proposals and outcomes effectively.



Qualifications


- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Civil Engineering, or a related field.

- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in urban planning or a related discipline.

- Skills: Proficiency in GIS software, planning tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.

- Certifications: AICP certification is preferred.

- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.

- Analytical Abilities: Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
